Just like the 1950s, 3D is all the rage in Hollywood right now. Films are all choosing to shoot in 3D, and are benefiting from the price bump of the more advanced viewing experience. Recently, director Tim Burton announced to The Wrap that he would not be shooting his newest film, Dark Shadows in 3D.
Dark Shadows is based the popular Gothic soap opera from the 1960s, which was ground breaking for the genre with its incorporation of supernatural characters. Family Guy and American Dad creator Seth MacFarlane is set to continue his animation domination at FOX. It has been reported that executives at the network have green-lit MacFarlane's upcoming reboot of the classic animated franchise The Flintstones. The decision is a product of years of negotiations between Twentieth Century Fox Television and Warner Brothers Television, who owned the rights to the series after acquiring animation titan Hanna-Barbera.
Questions from Warner Brothers have kept MacFarlane's dream of a reboot in limbo; namely, how will a reboot of such a classic series be handled, given MacFarlane's raunchy and often risque humor in Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show? Regarding the structure and appearance of the reboot, MacFarlane is quoted as saying, "...The characters will look the same but the only thing that will change is the stories....What’s the [prehistoric] version of an Ipod?"
